Any foreign person over the age of 16 who wishes to reside in Monaco - more than 3 months per year - must apply for a resident card issued by the Monegasque Authorities pursuant to the Franco-Monegasque de Voisinage of 18 May 1963 and Ordinance No. 3.153 of 19/03/1964 on the conditions of entry and residence of foreigners in the Principality .

You only need to have a valid identity card or passport. No visa is required.

Before proceeding in the Principality, apply for an establishment visa for Monaco issued by the French authorities. This visa also applies to minors.
Contact the Consulate of France in your country of residence.  Depending on the nationality and country of origin, the formalities to be carried out will be different.

CONDITIONS

FORMALITIES

The documents to be provided differ according to the nationality of the applicant. However, the following documents are generally requested:

  • The copy of the valid passport;

  • The copy of the lease agreement or the deed of ownership of an apartment or a certificate of accommodation;

  • a copy of an electricity bill or a copy of the subscription agreement with the Société Monégasque d'Electricité et du Gaz (SMEG);

  • A contract of employment or any other proof of the exercise of a profession, a receipt for the lodging of a file for the establishment of a business in Monaco or a bank certificate showing sufficient means of existence;

  • An extract from the birth certificate;

  • A clean criminal record record less than three months old, or a certificate of good character or equivalent;

  • Two photographs of identity.
